German Sauerkraut

INGREDIENTS
- 2 lb fresh sauerkraut
- 2-3 apples peeled & sliced
- 1 large onion sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1/2 tsp caraway seeds
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1 raw potato grated
- 1 cup Water
- 1 cup Stone Hill Vidal Blanc wine
- 1/2 tsp salt to taste
INSTRUCTIONS

Rinse sauerkraut with warm water, drain well.

Saute the apples and onion in butter or pork fat until soft.

Add caraway, sugar and rinsed kraut.

Simmer covered for 30 minutes.

Add potato, water, wine and salt. Continue cooking until sauerkraut is tender to your taste (about 1 hour).
